A lover of words, a poem for Tosha Michelle by Tracy Diane Miller

I was very young
When I became a lover of words
I listened for their sounds
My heart always heard

There is poetry in emotion
With its honest ebb and flow
A word always captures
What a soul is first to know

I am
A lover of words
The sounds to serenade me
Are the key to a cage
From which I break free

I am
A lover of words
Patient to unveil the mystery
Poetry casts shadows
A witness to history

My brain is full of the words
That I love
A generous gift
From Heaven above
