Hearts find a way to shine, a poem for Susan Gordon by Tracy Diane Miller

Depression is a dark abyss
From which a tormented soul screams to flee
Yet hearts find a way to shine
Providing a path where I may see

Solitude was once my burden
Alone to drown in sad thoughts
I constantly fought the darkness
For happiness can’t be taught

Poetry is my salvation
There is a purpose in lyrical refrain
I weave my emotions in a tapestry of verse
And that is how I stay sane

Your kindness came as a surprise
My soul speaks my grateful words
Hearts find a way to shine
Thankfully compassion is always heard
