The voices of nostalgia, a poem for Nicki Aycox by Tracy Diane Miller

I remember me
The little girl I used to be

I remember when innocence reigned
Where my childhood dreams had much to gain

I remember a seashell
The music of the ocean I knew so well

For these are the voices of nostalgia

I remember the whispers among the trees
And the beauty of the birds I long to see

I remember the first song I heard
My heart has memorized every word

I remember the feeling I get when I write a song
The courage to last all day long
