My friend Pamela Condon shared a marvelous video #IamNotaLabel . I was so inspired by this video I wrote the poem below. Thanks to my twin sister Stacy for the poem’s title:

Labels limit humanity, a poem by Tracy Diane Miller

Why does society label us
What reason can there be
For labels create division
A wall between you and me

To divide and conquer
That’s what labels provide
To see the world through preconceived notions
Compassion and understanding will often hide

Labels limit humanity
Allows love to take a back seat
To look at someone with suspicion or revulsion
As a society we have sentenced ourselves to defeat
