Jenna Rose Simon is a phenomenal artist. My Muse was so inspired by a recent drawing that she shared on Twitter. The result: I wrote this poem

You hold the key, a poem for @JennaRoseSimon by Tracy Diane Miller
The eyes of a child
Those pools of light
From which pellets of tears might flow
There is something that you must know
You hold the key
To fight the torment you see
Eyes dimmed
Mouth silent
A padlock
In a tiny hand
You hold the key
For emotions expressed
The aftershock
Of truth
Of respect
Of compassion
Of love
You hold the key
Unlock to release your soul
Freely to soar
Freely to shout
Freely to be heard
Never ashamed
Never silent
For you hold the key
To the authentic you
The best that you can be
