Where deep inside both joy and sorrow dwell, a poem for @RealNickiAycox by Tracy Diane Miller
Remember when lullabies
The soothing tunes of childhood
Were like the warmth of a blanket across the bed
As our eyes became full of slumber
We visited the dreams that lived inside of our heads
The rapturous expectations of youth
Eager and confident
In the flight towards tomorrow
Now to envy the innocence of the past
For adults
Self assurance we seek to borrow
It is then that we remember to rely on the strains of a song
A purpose I can tell
As a song will speak the truth
Where deep inside both joy and sorrow dwell
Unafraid to feel pain
Even when tears are what it gives
As a song will speak the truth
A testament to a life so well lived
